2020 NRCHA Stallion Stakes Spectacular Daily Update

The National Reined Cow Horse Association has returned to fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada, for the Stallion Stakes. For eight consecutive years, the elite South Point Arena and Equestrian Center has been home to the NRCHA Stakes.

The event, historically held in March, features 4-and 5-year-old horses who are sired by Subscribed Stallions. This year, the rescheduled Stakes will also feature a Pre-Futurity for 3-year-old horses. In addition to these robust limited age events, the Stakes offers a complete set of horse show classes and several three-event spectaculars. For nine days, the top horses and riders in the country will vie for $500,000 in payouts and a plethora of prizes.

The final day of competition was deep at the South Point Arena and Equestrian Center. On Sunday, August 30, the National Reined Cow Horse Association Stallion Stakes Open and Non Pro champions were crowned. They say it all comes down to the fence work and the Stakes Finals was no exception. Excitement filled the arena as Open and Non Pro posted large scores and took home over $500,000 in prize money.

The success of the NRCHA Stallion Stakes extended far beyond the action on the arena floor. The cow horse community collectively followed the event guidelines set by local and state officials for eleven consecutive days. The premier event became a beacon of hope for the city of Las Vegas to be safely re-opened. Everyone's cooperation throughout the show was recognized and greatly appreciated.

The NRCHA Stallion Stakes is the fourth of five NRCHA premier events, and it pays out more than $500,000 in prize money. The event's success is largely due to its tie to the NRCHA Subscribed Stallion program. Subscribed stallion nominators pay a fee so 4- and 5-year-old offspring can be eligible to compete in the limited aged event portion of the show. Besides paying lucrative checks to the Stakes winners, the NRCHA also presents an incentive checks to the nominator of the Stakes Champion's sire in each division.

In addition to the Stakes divisions, the event offers a full slate of horse show classes, a Pre-Futurity and several Spectaculars, including the $20,000-added Open Bridle Spectacular sponsored by Holy Cow Performance Horses.

The action in Las Vegas resumes at 8:00 a.m. Pacific time on Sunday, August 23. See it all on the free, live webcast, provided by NRCHA Official Videographer Equine Promotion, at www.NRCHA.com.
