AMERICANA 2021: ERCHA/NRCHA Futurity and Derby Open Rein Work Qualifier

The 2021 edition of the AMERICANA, held in Augsburg, Germany, is host of the 2021 ERCHA/NRCHA Futurity and Derby. Following the rein work qualifier which counted an impressive 43 horse-rider-combinations in the Futurity and 20 in the Derby Open, it was a tie between Alfons Hoefkens and Giovanni Campanaro in the Futurity and a tie between the latter and Schopfer in the Derby.

Taking the top score —a 217.5— in the Open Futurity rein work were Alfons Hoefkens with the 4-year-old palomino stallion Yellow Gun WR Cowboy (Cowboy Wr San Jo x Selenas Classy Smoke), bred and owned by WR-Horses, and Giovanni Campanaro aboard the 4-year-old stallion Dual Aristocrat Mr (Tassas Aristocrat x GH Dual Snappin) owned by Antonio Marmo. Campanaro had already claimed reserve honors with his mount at the ERCHA/NRCHA Derby in the spring and also managed to ride ZR Remind The Cat (Cats Got Freckles x CH Miss Remi Chex) for Alessandro Coppari to second place in the go round scoring a 216.5 and Shesagenuinelypepto (Oaks Lone Pepto x Genuinely Snapper) for Loris Paone to third scoring a 215.5.

Hoefkens & Yellow Gun WR Cowboy also topped the Limited Open division. Pietro Tuberga and Domenico Sapino's Katrina Hope Olena (Oaks Lone Pepto x Haida Oleana) placed second (214.5) with Pietro Soragni and his Nash Boogiechairmans (Boogie Boon x Ha Chairmans Comet) following in third place (213.5).

Giovanni Campanaro and Markus Schöpfer lead the Open Derby rein work qualifier

Giovanni Campanaro aboard Dual Aristocrat Mr and multiple ERCHA Futurity Champion Markus Schöpfer, who rode HipCat (Metallic Cat x Hip Hip Sue Rey) for Yvonne Bonda, each scored a 217.5 to top the leaderboard. Campanaro also placed third with Shesagenuinelypepto (215.5).

Markus Schöpfer had already ridden HipCat to the ERCHA NRCHA Open Derby Champion title this spring. "HipCat was incredible again," said Schöpfer. "He is a strong and very consistent horse. I thank Yvonne Bonda for her confidence in my training program and this great stallion. HipCat is a special horse, with great conformation, maneuvers and cow sense. He will definitely be a great sire as well!"

In the Limited Open Derby division Davide Di Giacinto took the lead with Snappy Playboy (ARC Snappy Cutte x Handy Play Antinori) owned by Pamela Palmieri with a 212.5 score. Di Giacinto also rode CD Salvatus Olena for Sofia Boglione to second place (208.5). A half point behind was Richard Forster with Noonecallsmechicken (Yellow Jersey x Chic To A Hen).

Nicola Succu and Gabriele Poli  leading in Rein Work of ERCHA Futurity Non Pro and Amateur Go round:

17 horses entered in the 2021 ERCHA/ National Reined Cow Horse Association Non Pro Futurity, which started at AMERICANA with the Rein Work classes.
Two riders took the lead in Non Pro and Amateur divisions: Nicola Succu with Alessia Campi’s A Nite With Marylin (Gunners Special Nite x LDL Marilyn Chex) and Gabriele Poli Barberis with First Cats Got Luck (Cats got freckles x Latexa Glo). Both duos scored 210.5. 

With a 209 score Mario Petrosino with LR Spat Mokie Cat (Ans mokie Cat x Of Spat) placed placed third in the Non Pro and Amateur divisions.

Gabriele Poli Berberis thus continued his previous successes this year. Among others, the young Italian was ERCHA NRCHA Non Pro Bridle Spectacular Champion at the LQH Masters 2021 and ERCHA NRCHA Non Pro and Amateur Pre Futurity Champion.

Nicola Succu and A Nite With Marylin, also took the lead in the Limited Non Pro division. Second place was for Giulia Costelli riding Brownie Lady (Smart Rey Pepto x DB Cats Sweet Lady), with a 203 score, third place for Olaf Bockstaller aboard SER Cinco Estrella (Chexs N Five x HS Valentinesurprise, score 200).

Alessandro Tugnoli riding his own Smarttarisdeal (Smart Easy Deal x Ot Taris Peppy) scored a 212.5 to take the lead in the ERCHA/National Reined Cow Horse Association Derby Non Pro Rein Work. Tugnoli also rode The One Dark Deal (Smart Easy Deal x Miss Mify Olena) to a 212 to place second. Third place, was for Richard Forster riding Noonecallsmechicken (Yellow Jersey x Chic to a Hen). This duo scored 211.

Shirley Schalcher takes lead after Rein Work in ERCHA Derby Amateur and Go round
Shirley Schalcher riding SS Smart Cash N Cerry (Big And Sweet BB x Miss Flipstick) took the lead of both the ERCHA/ National Reined Cow Horse Association Amateur Derby Rein Work classes. The Swiss rider, who among other things won the ERCHA Futurity Non Pro in 2016, was recently Hackamore Non Pro Champion riding the same horse at the LQH Masters.
Second place in the Amateur division was for Claudio Ferrami aboard his own SA Ret Hickory N San (Ret Great N San x Hickory Sanote) with a 206 score, followed by Vera Walliser on CD Fortunate Son (205).
