Martin Fuchs became the sixth Swiss rider in the 62-year history of the event to claim individual Jumping gold at the Longines FEI European Championships 2019 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands today.

The 3-year-old Open Futurity:
With a 223 score, Dominik Reminder of Germany and Martin Bachmann’s BMS Walla Getcha Gun (Walla Whiz Crome x Ally Get Your Gun) took home the Level (L)4 Open title.. “I am so happy with my horse and this win,” said Reminder, the 2018 ARHA Open Futurity Champion about his mount bred by Barbara Seibold. “Showing him was so much fun as he is so honest. This was his first show, and I am very happy how he presented himself. And we are proud that Walla Whiz Crome sired an Open Level 4 Futurity Champion in his first foal crop. My special thanks go to Marina Becker who trained him and sold him to us.”

Manuel Cortesi and AR Vintage Dream (A Sparkling Vintage x Sweet Candy Dream) owned by Elisabetta Raviola took Reserve L4 honors after leading after the go round. The stallion was bred by Luigi Parise. In the L3 division, Pierluigi Fabbri and Cristian Cecini’s Paint Horse mare CC Little Red Gun (One Gun x SM Lil Jabalina) placed second in the L3 with a 219.5 score.

Carlo Ambrosini & My Smart Show

The 3-year-old Non Pro Futurity

20-year-old Carlo Ambrosini from Italy had already dominated the L4 Non Pro Futurity go round, aboard his stallion My Smart Show (My Showbiz Whiz x MS Linton Lena). In the finals, the two scored a 219 earning the Championship. It was Carlo’s third ARHA Futurity Champion title after winning the L4 and L3 in 2018 and the L1 Non Pro in 2015.

Reserve honors in the L4 division with a 217.5 were for Franziska Wallner and her Shes Jerseylicious (Yellow Jersey x Shiney Enterprise). This duo, who had conquered the L1 Non Pro Futurity title the night before also went on to clinch the L3 Championship.

The 4-year-old Open Futurity

Great scores and great finals determined the champions of the ARHA 3-year-old and 4-year-old Open and Non Pro Level (L)4 and L3 Futurity.

Winning the 4-year-old L4 Open Futurity with a great 229 score was Italian Manuel Cortesi riding PC Tinsel Whiz (NRHA Two Million Dollar Sire Hollywoodstinseltown x PC Sliderina Whiz) owned by Az. Agr. Cortesi Piero. A point behind, Dominik Reminder of Germany rode Martin Bachmann’s Got My Baileys (Wimpyneedsacocktail x Smoking Walla Wanda) to the Reserve Championship.

 
Tomas Martinek & Call Me Lil Josie

With a 224.5 score, Tomas Martinek and Call Me Lil Josie (Lil Joe Cash x Call Me N Hollywood) owned by Wolfgang Hammer won the L3 title and placed third in L4. The talented mare, bred by Sergio Elia, also rode Martinek to the 2018 IRHA L2 Open Futurity Reserve Championship.
Earning the L3 Reserve Championship was Italian Pierluigi Fabbri aboard Hurricane Jaba (Broadway Jaba x Lydiah Chex), who scored a 222 for owner Igor Rozman. The gelding was bred by Az Ag Piero Pollarini SRL. Daniela Saupe and her Smart N Surprising (NRHA Five Million Dollar Sire Smart Spook x Just Miss Enterprise) placed third scoring a 221.

Wolfgang Hammer & Chicago Lena

The 4-year-old Non Pro Futurity

Riding his Chicago Lena (NRHA Six Million Dollar Sire Smart Chic Olena x Bright Gun City), Wolfgang Hammer of Austria aboard his Chicago Lena (Smart Chic Olena x Bright Gun City) rode to a 220 in the finals clinching both the L4 and L3 Non Pro Futurity Championships after a brilliant run. It was another huge success for the two this year: with Chicago Lena, Hammer was NRHA European Futurity Champion Non Pro L3 and L2 and Reserve Champion L4. Chicago Lena was bred by Sabine Schmid in Austria. “He is a great horse with lots of heart,” said Hammer. “I bought him as a yearling because I liked his pedigree. You could see that he had tons of talent and is a real winner.”

The L4 Reserve Championship with a 218.5 went to Sarah Ehrenreich and Gunners Special Gal (NRHA Three Million Dollar Sire Gunners Special Nite x Dun Pretty Nifty).

Taking L3 reserve honors was Veit Ostermeier aboard his Burnin Down Da House (Great Sun Burst x Whiz And Charm) who scored a 218.5. The gelding, bred by Martina Sgarzani, and his rider rode to the Saturday finals with the L1 Non Pro Futurity Championship under his belt.

Nicola Cordioli and Late Little Whiz take the ARHA 3-year-old L2 Open Championship

In a field of 23 finalists, Nicola Cordioli from Italy and Andrea Pengo’s Late Little Whiz (Walla Walla Whiz x Late Little Jaba) scored a 216.5 claiming the L2 Open Futurity Championship. Nicola Cordioli mit Andrea Pengos Late Little Whiz (Walla Walla Whiz x Late Little Jaba).

Yesterday Belgium rose to the top of the leaderboard, and today in Rotterdam (NED) they held on tight to win their first-ever team medals in the 62-year history of the FEI European Jumping Championships - and they were golden ones.

With a score of 213, past ARHA Non Pro Futurity Champion, 20-year-old Carlo Ambrosini of Italy took the lead in the Level (L)4 Non Pro Futurity qualifier riding his stallion My Smart Show (My Showbiz Whiz x MS Linton Lena).

In a thrilling second day of competition at the Longines FEI Jumping European Championships 2019 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands today, Team Belgium rocketed up from overnight eighth place into pole position when they were the only side to produce three clear rounds.

The 2019 edition of the Austrian Reining Horse Association 3-year-old Futurity counted 44 horses entered in the Open. Early in the qualifying go round, past IRHA Futurity Champion of Italy, Cristian Dalla Pozza, aboard Captains Doc Badger (AB Captain Badger x Kay Sarah) set the bar by posting a 219.5 score. The stallion, bred by Dario Carmignani and owned by Angelucci Quarter Horses, and his rider closed by taking the lead in Level (L)3 and L2 Open divisions.

We have talked before about breeders in this industry and how it adds something extra special to the whole experience when you can show a horse that you have raised.  It is something completely warm and fuzzy when you watch them grow up each day, saddle them for the first time, and, finally, get to walk them into that perfect Will Roger’s sand.  Think about taking it a step further though, think about doing all of those things, then on top of that shipping your very special horse overseas.  This is the story for our first horse highlight.  The Salvatori family’s great horse Twisted Red Faye.
