The eighteenth edition of the ERCHA/NRCHA Pre Futurity, open to 3-, and 4-year-old horses shown in a snaffle bit or hackamore, filled the Palacittá facility in Travagliato, Italy, on July 27-28 with over 50 horses from Europe performing to the best of their abilities.

Thanks to the recent success of his offspring in both the U.S. and Europe, National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) 2011 Hall of Fame Inductee Wimpys Little Step is unofficially the newest NRHA Eleven Million Dollar Sire. He’s only the third sire to reach this milestone, joining Topsail Whiz and Gunner.

Summer Time Fun, ridden by James Payne, and Caution Piping Hot, ridden by R.L. Chartier, both marked 226 to share the win in the Open finals of the NCHA Derby at the Metallic Cat Summer Cutting Spectacular on August 4.

Ali Good, Ringling, Okla., scored 218 points on Saturday, July 3, to win the NCHA Derby Non-Pro Limited aboard Sabrina Boon, by Boon A Little. Rebecca Sheehan, Weatherford, Tex., was reserve championship with 216.5 points on Counting Starz, by Smooth As A Cat, and Laura Bennett placed third with 214 points on Tictac Sugar, by Kit Kat Sugar.

In the ninth edition of the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) European Open Derby Finals, it was the first horse-rider-combination in the second section that held the top score all the way through the end of the 19 finalists.

The 2019 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) European Derby offered competition for all with 4-year-old horses performing in the NRHA Mid Summer Futurity and 5-, 6-, 7- and 8-year-old horses roding for the €20,000-added* European Level 4 Non Pro Derby. Once the sun went down on the Ostbayernhalle arena, Edoardo Bernardelli of Italy and Wolfgang Hammer of Austria opted to tie for the European Level (L)4 Non Pro Championship and a young Francesca Ferrarol left the arena with three Non Pro Derby Championships to her name.

Opening the day in Kreuth was the NRHA Midsummer Futurity open to 4-year-old horses. Taking the Championship in both the €5.000-added Level (L)4 and €2.500-added L3 was French professional Arnaud Girinon riding Valerie Fontaine’s BHB Wimpy Choco Gun, a mare by BHB Mr Wimpys Royal out of BHB Kateberry Stargun.
