The IRHA-NRHA 4-year-old Open Final closed the night with an almost predicted success: on the podium were two riders that were both in the lead in the qualifier with a change of horse for the Reserve Championship where Gennaro Lendi conquered second place honors with Frozen N Rooster and not with Maytheforcebewhizyou.

The finals of the 2018 IRHA/NRHA 4-year-old Non Pro counted 27 finalists representing six nations (Italy, France, Germany, Great Britain, Poland and Switzerland).  Taking home the Level (L)4 and L3 Championship was Laura Dalla Gassa of Italy riding Gunners Special Olena, an own daughter of NRHA Two Million Dollar Sire Gunners Special Nite out of Dolly Special Lena.

The fifth day of competition at the 2018 IRHA/IRHBA/NRHA Futurity determined the Euro 390.000-added 3-year-old Open Futurity finalists.

Even with a score of 222 points, as first to work in the 21-horse NCHA Open Futurity Finals, Crey Zee and Tatum Rice were plenty vulnerable. Last year’s winning score was 228 points, marked by Austin Shepard and Dual Reyish. And the last time a score of 222 won the event was in 2008, when Metallic Cat and Beau Galyean claimed the championship. Both Shepard and Galyean, as well as three other past NCHA Futurity champions were in Sunday’s Finals, as well.

Today, the first go-round of the IRHA/IRHBA/NRHA 3-year-old Santa Hill Ranch/ACS 3-year-old Non Pro Futurity determined the first finalists of the ‘big’ Futurity held in Europe. The first go-round, second section, of the Open Futurity was also held today. The finalists will be determined on Tuesday, December 11, following the second go-round.

Cade Shepard, Summerdale, Ala., scored 222 points on Friday night to win the 2018 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Finals. Lindy Ashlock, Abilene, Tex., scored 218 points for the reserve championship, while Blakley Colgrove, Boligee, Ala., and Alexa Stent, Aledo, Tex., tied with 217 points to split third and fourth places.

A new record was set Monday, in Session I of Western Bloodstock Ltd.’s NCHA Futurity 2-Year-Old Sale, when Tin Man, by Metallic Cat, sold for $500,000. The previous record was $400,000 for Eight Mile, by Metallic Cat, in the 2014 NCHA Futurity 2-Year-Old Sale.
