The CSI4* 1m55 Grand Prix, the final highlight of this weekend at the Hubside Jumping, the international show jumping competition organised in the Ecuries du Golfe de Saint-Tropez, in Grimaud (Var), boasting prize money of 100, 000 euros, was won by the regional rider Romain Dreyfus.

Twenty-eight combinations took part in this Grand Prix whose delicate course was designed by Andrea Colombo. With temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius, the thirteen fences, sixteen jumping efforts and the triple bearing the Hubside colours on number 12 created a few problems for the leading riders. Simon Delestre finished his round with four faults and Philippe Rozier with 13 faults. Carlos Enrique Lopez Lizarazo, the Haras des Grillons’ rider, had one time fault. Nevertheless, six combinations were qualified for the jumpoff. First to go, Alvaro Diaz Garcia knocked down the rail on the second element of the double and finished in a time of 45.58 seconds. Romain Dreyfus and Niara d'Elsemdam Z, followed with a perfect clear round in a time of 38.20 seconds before their local crowd. With four faults at the start of the jump-off, Marc Dilasser eased up a bit and finished the round in a time of 39.99 seconds. He was placed fourth overall. Less fast than the French rider in the turns, Mexico’s Jaime Ascarraga jumped a clear round in a time of 40.95 seconds, putting him into third place. As for Belgium’s FranНois Mathy Junior, one down at the beginning of the jump-off with Uno de La Roque quashed all his hopes of victory. He finished in fifth position, in a time of 43.68 seconds. Only Edward Levy could stop the young rider from Saint-EstПve Janson from winning. The young French rider, who is used to riding in these types of classes with Rebecca LS, let the victory slip through his fingers for a second and a half! He finished clear but in a time of 39.34 seconds, and had to settle for second place. “This victory is very significant because my family has always lived here in this region. We bought Niara with some friends when she was 5. We know each other inside out but today was our first CSI4* show. To see her win the Grand Prix from the outset is exceptional! When I set off in the jump-off, I knew I had to take all the risks to win. All the other riders I was competing against are in the World top 100, so I had no other choice. I had to jump the course, make tight turns, do my best and I knew that I could count on her. She was extraordinary,”  said the 25-year-old rider, who was very emotional after his victory.
Organised by the international rider and successful businessman Sadri Fegaier, the Hubside Jumping will return from 13 to 16 June!
