Bull Power on Display as Only 11 Rides Come Out of 48 Outs.

Night one of the 2020 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour (PWVT) Denver Chute Out at National Western Stock Show was owned by the bulls, as 46 riders were able to muster only 11 qualified rides. Cole Melancon (Paris, Texas) led the way with the only 90-point ride of the night.

Riders owned the early part of the night, with six qualified rides in the first section.
Melancon, a usual PRCA cowboy and two-time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier, snapped up the chance to ride at his first PBR event of 2020. Bucking early and holding the lead all night, Melancon got fans on their feet as he conquered Let’s Gamble (Flying S/Samford) for exactly 90 points in section one.
The second-place score heading into the second half of Round 1 is also held by a PRCA cowboy, another Texan, Boudreaux Campbell (Crockett, Texas). Campbell covered his draw Redman (Cottonwood Bucking Bulls) for 88.5 points in section six.
Hailing from Mexico, Santiago Castellanos (Dixon, Mexico) sits in third after night number one. Castellanos matched Attaboy (TNT Rodeo Company) move for move as the bovine athlete exploded from the chutes. The ride was recognized by the judges as his efforts earned him 86.5 points.
Marcus Mast (Middlebury, Indiana) was the highest ranking of the PBR regulars, as the No. 32 rider in the world made the 8 second whistle aboard Squeeze Box (Hodges/Shuler). The 85.5-point ride was good enough to plant Mast in fourth place heading into night two.
Canadian Brock Radford (Dewinton, Alberta, Canada) rounded out the Top 5 on night one.
Radford was able to best Relentless (4L & Diamond S Rodeo Company) for 8 seconds, earning 85 points in section five.
Fans can experience every out from the 2020 Denver Chute Out at National Western Stock Show on Tuesday, January 13 at 8 a.m. ET via RidePass.com or the RidePass mobile app.
The Denver Chute Out continues with the second half of Round 1 tomorrow, January 14 at 7 p.m. MT.
