The Sale at Rancho Rio:

Smartys Dunny, consigned by Trevor Brazile, sells for $250,000

Since its inception, The Horse Sale at Rancho Rio has become the leading rope horse sale in the country and the premier horse sale of the Team Roping Capital of the World. Held each year in Wickenburg, Arizona, in conjunction with the National Team Roping Finals, The Horse Sale at Rancho Rio is limited to 65 top rope horses and draws consignors and buyers from all over the U.S. and Canada.

Highlighting the day was Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame Inductee and 26 x PRCA World Champion Trevor Brazile who offered Smartys Dunny, AKA “Captain,” a 2014 gelding bred by renowned breeders John and Sally Amabile. By Colonels Smart Spook (by Smart Spook) out of Bea With A Twist (by Dunnit With A Twist x Hollywood Dun It) the red dun American Quarter Horse was sold for $250.000.

"I offered Captain here because this is the horse that everyone always tells me to find but he is the hardest horse to find,” said Brazile who boasts $7,000,000 + PRCA career earnings as well as 31 NFR Qualifications. “He has been exposed to every aspect of ranch work, great to ride in the pasture or trails, fancy broke, gentle, been ranch rodeoed on, and great to head or heel on. Not only is he easy to ride and rope on but you could win on him at horse shows as well. This horse will try to do anything you ask and look classy doing it. It will be easy to see why he is one of our favorites!"
