World Reining Brings Back International Reining Competition to CS Ranch Offering €150.000 Guaranteed Prize Money

April 05, 2023

July 3-8, 2023 | Givrins, Switzerland
International Reining Team Competition has been greatly missed by reiners around the world. Thanks to the work done in the past year by World Reining, it is back with a bang offering €150.000 guaranteed prize money, the coveted medals, and the World Reining Champion titles. The host will be renowned CS Ranch in Givrins, Switzerland, where many prestigious World and European Team reining competitions have been held in the past.

To be held on July 3-8, the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) approved World Reining Championship for Junior Riders (age 14-18), Young Riders (age 16- 21), Amateur and Open Senior Riders, as well as the World Para Reining Championship 2023 will once again give the opportunity to Nations worldwide to compete in one of Europe’s best venues. The innovative Senior Amateur division was formatted in order to give over 18 non professional riders the opportunity to show for their flag's colors in both a team and, for those who qualify, individual competition.

Winners in all the categories will be crowned World Reining Champions!

The details
Competition is open to members of NRHA Affiliates and/or National Federations worldwide and owners must be current NRHA members; horses must have an NRHA competition license.
Each nation may present a team of four riders (the lowest score is dropped) and two individuals in the categories Junior, Young Riders, Senior Amateur, and Senior Open riders. A minimum of three riders is needed to present a team.

Para Reining teams may be composed of three riders with no age constriction with a drop score or two riders with their score counting. Each country can submit one additional individual if they have a full team of three. Alternatively, a Para Rider may participate as an individual and try to qualify for the individual finals following the team event.

Making it even better: The Wild Card Concept & Combination Teams
Wild Cards
Following an outstanding level of interest, the show organizers have decided to allocate “Wild Cards” for entry into the first go, in order to compete for a place in the individual finals of the World Reining Show. The Top 5 Riders in the NRHA Open and Non Pro divisions from 2022 are invited hoping to see the highest level of competition, riding for an outstanding level of prize money and bringing an additional exciting element to the show!

Combination Teams
Should a Nation not have enough riders to compose a team, ‘combination teams’ of riders from the same region may be formed. An example could be South America or Scandinavia.
Individual riders can request to be placed into a team or abstain. Teams will be made one week prior to the start of the competition, depending on the number of riders available, at which point riders will be required to pay their portion of the team entry fee.

All horses must by 5-years-old and up.

Qualification Criteria
Athletes must have performed to the following scores two times in NRHA approved competition between January 1, 2022 - June 17, 2023:
-68 for Junior riders
-70 for Young riders
-70 for Senior Amateur riders
-71 for Senior Open riders

To date, 17 nations have confirmed participation on March 15, the entries in principle deadline. Nominated Entries (long list) must be confirmed by June 5, and Definite Entries by June 20. The last date for substitutions is July 3.
