The Second Day of Competition Determines the NRHA European Derby Non Pro Finalists

Sunday in Kreuth determined the 2019 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) European Derby Non Pro finalists with Edoardo Bernardelli of Italy firmly holding on to the top score in the €20.000-added Level (L)4 and €15.000-added L3 go round. Bernardelli and his Whiz Wild West (Spark N Whiz x West Coast Oak), fresh off their Italian Reining Horse Association (IRHA) L3 Non Pro Derby Championship, had performed to a 217.5 to lead the two levels on the first day of competition. The 6-year-old gelding, bred and nominated by Mattia Camisi, boasts over $167,000 NRHA Lifetime Earnings (LTE).

Kreuth, July 28 — Provided by Simona Diale, IHP — Leading the €9.000-added L2 division qualifier with a 216.5 was Wolfgang Hammer of Austria with his Mr Ricochet (Ricochet Rooster x Docs Oak Rosy) between the reins. The 6-year-old stallion was bred and nominated by 23 QH Azienda Agricola. The €5.000-added L1 division saw young Franziska Wallner of Germany riding Mai Tai Enterprise (Chex Enterprise x Revolutions Chic Jac), owned and bred by Heidi Wallner, claiming the top score — a 213. The Non Pro Derby finals will take place on Friday, August 2.

European Open Derby Qualifier: the first section
In the first section of the €115.000-added NRHA Open Derby qualifier, Mirko Midili of Italy riding Asia Vimercati’s Angelina Shining Gun (Colonels Shining Gun x Miss Alex Cody), nominated by Fabio Polesel; NRHA’s newest Million Dollar Rider, Ann Fonck, aboard Spook N Ruffles (NRHA Five Million Dollar Sire Smart Spook x Ruffle Me Up), owned by Brigitte Steiner and nominated by Rosanne Sternberg; and NRHA Two Million Dollar Rider Bernard Fonck riding Shiners Voodoo (Shiners Voodoo Dr x BR China Rose), owned by Kimberly Wegner and nominated by Reto Erdin, tied for the lead in the L4 division with a 219.5 score.
Italian Giuseppe Prevosti riding Magnum Chic N Chex (NRHA Five Million Dollar Sire Magnum Chic Dream x Buenonics Doughter) owned by PL Reining Horses and nominated by Lara Maiocchi, scored a 218.5 to lead the L3 division. In the Ostbayernhalle arena, the duo had clinched the NRHA Germany L4 and L3 Breeders Derby two months ago! Patryk Peszke rode Bernice Engle’s Gumpatrasha (NRHA Two Million Dollar Sire Gunnatrashya x Bubblicious Gump BB), nominated by Ruediger Diedenhofen, to a 214, placing in the top slot of the L2 and L1 divisions.

Over 320 horses made their way to Kreuth to take part in the ninth edition of the European Derby (open to 5-6-7-8-year-old horses enrolled in the NRHA Nomination Program), the 4-year-old NRHA Mid Summer Futurity, 3-year-old NRHA Pre Futurity, and the NRHA Show.
Monday Action in Kreuth will include the second section of the €115.000-added NRHA European Open Derby qualifier as well as the Non Pro Derby Consolation.
