High Score for Cristian Dalla Pozza in the ARHA 3-year-old Open Futurity; Manuel Cortesi Leads the 4-year-old L4 Open

The 2019 edition of the Austrian Reining Horse Association 3-year-old Futurity counted 44 horses entered in the Open. Early in the qualifying go round, past IRHA Futurity Champion of Italy, Cristian Dalla Pozza, aboard Captains Doc Badger (AB Captain Badger x Kay Sarah) set the bar by posting a 219.5 score. The stallion, bred by Dario Carmignani and owned by Angelucci Quarter Horses, and his rider closed by taking the lead in Level (L)3 and L2 Open divisions.

Later in the draw, Manuel Cortesi and AR Vintage Dream (A Sparkling Vintage x Sweet Candy Dream), a stallion bred by Luigi Parise owned by Elisabetta Raviola, scored a 218.5 to lead the L4 Open division.  The 27-year-old Italian Professional left his mark in the AustrianRHA Futurity books by taking the L3 Open Futurity Championship in 2015 and claimed reserve honors in the L4 Open division last year.

Last year’s ARHA Futurity L4 Open Futurity Co-Champion L4 Open Dominik Reminder posted the second highest score in the L4 (a 218) aboard Martin Bachmann’s BMS Walla Getcha Gun (Walla Whiz Crome x Ally Get Your Gun), a stallion bred by Barbara Seibold.

Jeffrey Touroute-Thomas and Reto Erdin‘s Rosenkavalier (Gunwork x BR China Rose) followed with a 215.5, which was also the second highest score in the L3 division – together with Stefano Angelucci riding his Zag Ebony Gun (Shine Chic Shine x Gun At The Gate), a mare bred by Antonio Zagaria. The duo also took the second highet score in the L2 division.

In the L1, two riders scored a 211.5: Saul Luca Bruzzi aboard Danger Trash (Gunatrashya x Holiday With Peppy), a mare bred by Emanuele Colleoni and owned by Societa Agricola CD Horses SR, and Gabriele Wendlinger riding her gelding bred by Sonja Mammel, Gunfighting Smurf (Gunners Smokin Oak x A Fancy Misty Glo). Matteo Vedovato and Fabio Cerantola’s mare Spooks Carrie Doll (Spooks Gotta Gun x Emily Peppys Doll) placed third scoring a 209.5.


Manuel Cortesi & PC Tinsel Whiz take lead in the 4-year-old L4 Open Futurity Qualifier; Giovanni Masi de Vargas dominates the L3 and L2 divisions and Daniela Saupe leads the L1

In a field of 53 horses, Manuel Cortesi took the lead in the L4 Open qualifier aboard PC Tinsel Whiz (Hollywoodstinseltown x PC Sliderina Whiz). The stallion who is owned by Az. Agr Cortesi Piero, scored a 223. Giovanni Masi De Vargas and Bugs At Nite followed on second place for owner Mariangela Di Pierro scoring a 222. Dominik Reminder and Martin Bachmann‘s Got My Baileys (Wimpyneedsacocktail x Smoking Walla Wanda) placed third with a 221.5 score.

Cortesi was third with this stallion at the 2018 ARHA  Futurity after leading after the go round, and placed 11th at the NRHA Breeders Futurity Open.

Giovanni Masi de Vargas and Bugs At Nite (Gunners Special Nite x Scats Ebony Shiner) took the lead in L3 and L2 divisions. The two were 2019 NRHA European Futurity L2 Open Champions and placed 7th at the 2018 NRHA Breeders Futurity.

Daniela Saupe and Smart N Surprising (Smart Spook x Just Miss Enterprise) and Tomas Martinek aboard Wolfgang Hammers Call Me Lil Josie (Lil Joe Cash x Call Me N Hollywood) tied for second place in L3. In the L2 Open division, Saupe and her mount tied for second place with Nico Sicuro riding Harry Gotta Whiz (Spooks Gota Whiz x Harry Little Quarry) for owners Quarter Dream Srl and also took the lead in the L2.

Levin Ludwig aboard Hans Isler‘s Einsteins Resolve (Einsteins Revolution x Charleys Smart Miss)  and Barbara Bayer aboard CSG Shining Gold (Gunner x Golden Flashy Whiz) owned by Alessandra Zotter-Gagony tied for the second highest score (a 217.5) in the L1.
