HUBSIDE JUMPING: A STAR-STUDDED LINE-UP IN THE GULF OF SAINT-TROPEZ

A CSI-4* show has seldom had such an amazing line-up of riders. It’s true that after three months of being at a standstill, everyone, including the 5-star riders, who won’t be competing at the Olympics this summer, were keen to go back to the show ring. On Thursday, the Haras des Grillons de Grimaud played host to the best that world show jumping has to offer, during the launch of the second season of the HUBSIDE JUMPING. Among them were those loyal to Sadri Fegaier’s competitions…and also a few “newbies.”

It was all about up-and-rising star, Filippo Bologni of Italy in the CSI 4* SUBSIDE JUMPING de Grimaud. Riding Quidich de La Chavée, In the first international show jumping event held in Europe this year, the young rider took the win in front of Nicolas Demotte riding Ilex VP, and Ireland’s Mark Mcauley aboard Miebello. A few hours later, Bologna scored a second victory in the 1.40m, this time riding Diplomat.
“I am thrilled competition is back and the cherry on the cake is winning this first CSI 4* here in Grimaud,” said Bologni. “Quidich is the most experienced horse I am riding right now and having a French horse win here with an Italian rider is a blast.” With the 11-year-old chestnut stallion owned by Rebecca Menichella, Bologni had already left his mark in the CSIO Rome and the Nations Cup in Verona, Italy. “He’s a fast horse which was perfect for the competition today and even though this is our first show after the lockdown, period during which I managed to ride my young horses more, he showed he was ready to go!”

Victory was also for Italy in the CSI 2* 1.30 where Emanuele Gaudiano stopped the clock with the fastest time riding Badolan, a 9-year-old gelding. In the CSI 2* 1.20,  Dutch Jur Vrieling clinched the win riding KM It’s me.

The event is held behind closed doors and is also closed to the media with no exceptions.
