Langston Pattillo, St. Elmo, Ill., the NCHA earner of $310,122, won the McAlister Assets NCHA Derby Amateur Unlimited go-round competition with 221 points on Zinging Some Reys. While Marco Salvatori, Modena, Italy, the earner of $78,067, scored 219 points on Twisted Red Faye to win the Rios of Mercedes Amateur go-round. His score also ranked second among entrants in the Unlimited Amateur go-round. And Barnwell Ramsey, Huntersville, N.C., the NCHA earner of $219,867, scored 218 points aboard Reyzn Checks to qualify for the finals of both divisions, as well.

Regan Plendl, Kingsley, Iowa, the second rider to work in the Metallic Cat NCHA Classic Challenge Non-Pro Finals, won the championship with 220 points riding Cats Lightning Rey, by NRR Cat King Cole. Rollz Royce: King of the Rode

No doubt about it. Rollz Royce, sired by Dual Smart Rey, owned the Metallic Cat NCHA Classic Challenge Open Finals, following a riveting 229-point run under Beau Galyean, for owner Thomas Guinn, Philadelphia, Miss. Duramax Dually, shown by Wesley Galyean for the Glover/Galyean Partnership, Claremore, Okla., was reserve champion with 222.5 points, and Hott Heels, under Lloyd Cox for Julie Jarma, Whitesboro, Tex., placed third with 222 points.

Jody McGlothlin and Somethingtobelievein

Jody McGlothlin’s win aboard Somethingtobelievein in Wednesday’s NCHA Classic Challenge Non-Pro Limited might not have been quite as thrilling as her win on the talented mare in the 2016 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Limited, but as their last run together in Will Rogers Coliseum, it was equally as significant. McGlothlin scored 222 points to claim the Classic Challenge Non-Pro Limited championship, while Lucchese Cogdell took reserve with 219 points, and Kolby Don Moore placed third with 217.5 points, in the 12-rider field.

Chiarelli, Jarma, Wilson and Wood

Langston Pattillo’s 222-point score aboard High Stylin CD, on the first day of the Metallic Cat NCHA Summer Spectacular Classic Challenge Non-Pro go-round, held through the last day of first go-round competition, and was never topped. But four riders on the last day of the 137-rider go-round gave spectators a “finals worthy” thrill with four 220-point scores in near succession, during the last set of the day.

Cool N Hot turns on the heat

Cool N Hot and Kobie Wood won the day and the first go-round of the Metallic Cat NCHA Summer Spectacular Classic Challenge with 224 points on Saturday, the second day of the 24-day Summer Spectacular. Second Spot and Lloyd Cox marked 223 points, the second-highest score of the go-round, while Cox and Blackish claimed 222 points, the third-highest score, which tied Friday’s high-scoring horses Reystylin Smooth, shown by Adan Banuelos, and Sundance Jessie, under John Mitchell.

Riding 9-year-old Little Jackson Cat LTE $227,264, winner of the NCHA Transwest Western Nationals Open and $25,000 Novice championships under Mike Wood, earlier in the week, Dawn Chapman, Chandler, Ariz., scored 222 points to win the $25,000 Novice Non-Pro title on Saturday, the final day of Western Nationals competition.
